National 4-H Week
DECEMBER 2021 NEWSLETTER
Workshops for Youth and Adults!

Each year ULC likes to provide workshops to both youth and volunteers.  This December 18th we are keeping it simple and providing 2 workshops.  One focused on youth who may consider wanting to be an officer for their club or youth who are currently officers.  The other workshop focused on volunteers who are new and would like some direction in getting started as a volunteer.  Both workshops will begin at 9am and end by or before 12pm.  Please RSVP on the sign up genius link so that we can plan for snacks and materials:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c084da9a92aabfe3-officer

Art Contest!

Looking to get creative? Have skills in digital programs or want to draw by hand?

We are searching for artwork that encompasses Gallatin County 4-H and all the opportunities for youth. A picture with simply one project/club represented is not what we are looking for.   All submitted artwork has the potential to be on a postcard, thank you card, and displayed at fair!  Click here for all the details, rules and release form!

Entries due January 10, 2022.

Thank You to our Sponsors

Gallatin County 4-H Shooting Sports is very fortunate to have the support of many individuals and conservation organizations.  We are very fortunate to be recipients of a Friends of NRA Grant for this shooting season of 2021 - 2022.  We will be able to purchase and obtain the needed targets, ammunition, and equipment to serve our programs.  Manhattan Wildlife Association and the Southwest Montana Chapter of SCI have been a tremendous supporter to 4-H Shooting Sports.  They embrace the opportunity to help with youth shooting and provide the venue to offer the various shooting disciplines.  Thank you to these sponsors.  Without their dedication to youth shooting, our shooting sports program could not do what we do for the members of Gallatin County 4-H Shooting Sports.

Volunteers needed:

Gallatin County 4-H Shooting Sports is in desperate need of adults to become certified leaders in the different disciplines that are offered in 4-H Shooting.  We are desperately in need of assistance in archery and shotgun.  In order for us to provide a safe and educational experience, we need your help.  Please consider becoming a leader.  More information on leader trainings will made available as it is received. Please plan to attend.  For more information, please contact Scott Francis – 581-6845.

So good to see everyone…and looking forward to a fun year.  After a meet and greet we learned about animal vital organs and their vital signs.  We ended with a little homework assignment that we’ll revisit to kick-off the December 7th meeting (6-7pm at the Gallatin County Extension office located at 903 North Black Avenue) ….

What are the vital signs of a Turkey and how and where do you take them?

The next meeting will cover Animal Digestive systems ….
