4-H Awards Night for Volunteers and Youth!
We are still in our final days of wrapping up the 2020-2021 4-H year and want to invite families to celebrate the closing of the 4-H year to the Youth and Volunteer Awards Night on Monday, September 27 at the Bozeman Grantree Inn.
The main course will be: Mesquite Chicken or Pulled Pork on Buns with Baked Beans, Bacon Potato Salad, Red Delicious Apple Slaw.
Families with the last name A-L please bring a dessert to share. If it needs a serving utensil, please bring that as well.
Families with last name M-Z will bring dessert next year.

Eleven Gallatin County 4-Hers attended the Montana 4- H Congress held on the Montana State University campus in July. They participated in workshops, contests, and connected with other 4-Hers from across the state.
Four of our members qualified to attend National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia this coming November! Cora Pruitt qualified with her Illustrated Talk, Erica Berger qualified with her Speech, Lori Marx qualified in Career Communications, and Erica Hastings qualified in Stir Ups! Mariah McPhee also qualified at the 2020 Montana 4-H Congress with her speech. Congratulations to these 4-Hers! We wish them the best at the National Competition! |

Friday October 22- Sunday October 24, 2021
Billings Hotel and Convention Center, Billings MT
Registration cost is $175, including lodging (2 to a room) meals Saturday and Sunday Breakfast and program costs.
Adult chaperones will have lodging options during registration.
Those participants interested in attending need to register using Zsuites. Please contact your MSU County Extension office for specific registration requirements and deadlines.
Schedule
Registration and check-in 3:30-5:30pm Friday evening
Opening Program 6:00 PM Friday evening
Wrap up program after breakfast approx. 10:30 AM Sunday morning.
Youth participants must be 14 on or before October 1, 2021 and volunteer chaperones must be at least 21 and a certified volunteer. |

The 2021 Around the World Gallatin County 4-H camp is in the books!
17 counselors led over 70 campers around the world exploring foods, games, pinata making, archery, zipline, go karts, and more at the Yellowstone Alliance Adventures! Friends were made, songs were sang, and laughter was heard for miles around!
Thank you to the chaperones, Nurse Rachel, and JaNaie for all of your help! We couldn't have done it without you!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered and participated in the fair! If you have any ideas for next year's fair, please let us know.
We will be asking for volunteers to be on the Indoor Fair Committee. If you're a project leader, we'd appreciate your help with in this area!
The 2021 4-H camp was held at the YAA the 1st week in August and a fun time was had by all! Thank you to our counselors, chaperones, JaNaie and our director team!
Record books and achievement journals will be due back to the Extension Office on September 9.

The Unlimited Leaders Council is looking for new members for the upcoming 4-H year! We plan events such as Awards Night, Leader Trainings, Member Trainings, Fair Concessions and more! The Belgrade Pioneers have had a good fair and a great summer! Now it is time for us to get back to business! On August 21-22 Saddle Stars 4-H Club held a summer family party. We had a potluck
dinner, played some games, watched an outdoor movie, and had a sleepover. Officer elections
for the new year will be taking place soon. Our meetings take place the second Monday of each
month, and they start at 6:30. Our next meeting is Monday, September 13th. Contact our club

Beef
Welcome and welcome back! What a great fair and sale we had! We loved seeing all of you do so well!!! Can you believe it’s time to start again?!
If you are considering joining the beef project please be sure to come to our first meeting. Read below carefully:
Orientation and selection workshop:
September 26th @ 5:00pm at the Duffin Ranch, Manhattan. This workshop is strongly encouraged for any new students. It will count for one of your three required workshops. If you cannot make it and you are new you MUST reach out to a leader for information about the new year. This workshop is open to ALL beef kids MARKET AND BREEDING.
We understand this is before enrollment, but it’s important to be in touch with us before your pick out your steers and commit to the project.
Klompien Red Angus will be presenting our first workshop:
This will be a fantastic workshop you won’t want to miss. The Klompien’s have extensive experience and knowledge when it comes to raising and showing cattle.

Questions for for leaders at the end of the class. You will also be receiving materials about the project. New students please make sure your parents stay and watch.
** Our meetings start promptly at the time listed. We allow a 10 minute window after start time, if you arrive past that window you will be unable to count the workshop for the year. This will be the case for every workshop.

Take West Dry Creek Road out of Manhattan. Cross the Gallatin River Bridge and continue going east past Central Park road about a half mile. Look for the brown metal gate with balloons tied to it. Follow the dirt road back to the barns & corrals.

FEEDING WORKSHOP- save the date on your calendar. Details will be send out closer to the event. This workshop will teach you about nutrition and how to feed your steers from start to finish.

When you sign up for 4H this year we need you to use a cell phone number and email of an adult in charge so we will be able to reach you. This is how we will communicate so we need current phone numbers and emails.

Happy steer shopping this fall!! There will be no online options this year and we will only be offering in person workshops.
***Our first mandatory meeting (non-workshop) will be January 9th, 2022 for tagging and weighing your steers. This will not be counted as a workshop. Please save the date. Details will be in future communications.

Cloverbuds (Ages 5-7)
Meetings have concluded for the 2020-2021 4-H Year! The Cloverbuds project is a great way for youth ages 5-7 to get involved and introduced into the world of 4-H. Meetings include activites across all project areas to spark interest to inspire involvement in those projects when members are 8 years old. Know a Cloverbud? Encourage them to enroll in the Cloverbud project this upcoming October for the 2021-2022 4-H Year!

Shooting Sports
The shooting sports season is fast approaching for 2021 – 2022. To be eligible to enroll in 4-H Shooting the 4-H member must be 9 by October 1st of 2021. To enroll in 4-H, please go to this site, http://www.msuextension.org/gallatin/4henrollment.html. There are a few items that must completed prior to the season starting. The following items must be completed and submitted to the discipline leaders before the participant may shoot. We are also asking that you make additional copies of the paperwork to be given to each of the discipline coaches.
- Shooting Sports Fee: $30 per shooting sports project
- The following forms must be completed and signed by the shooter and the parent or guardian of the shooter.
- Medical Form – Please make copies for all the disciplines the shooter is participating in, as they need to be at the venues.
