- Senior Boards displayed in the Indoor Exhibit Building during Fair Week (bring a poster to showcase you - you can use any senior boards you have made for school)
- Senior Recognition Ceremony (with special gifts) on Saturday, July 19th at 2pm (at the Fair under the AgWest show tent) to honor your involvement and accomplishments
- Senior section of the Newspaper TAB - it’s the insert that goes out after the Fair that has fair results, and all the market livestock sales photos and info.
**SUBMIT your 2025 Senior Recognition information via the Google Form (i.e. upload a Senior photo, what high school you’re graduating from, how many years you were in 4-H, 4-H projects over the years, 4-H impact on your life, plans after graduation). This information will be used to compile blurbs that will be published to the newspaper TAB and read at the Senior Recognition Ceremony.
Let us honor your 4-H journey!

4-H Seeking Community Members to be Project Interview Judges
Gallatin County 4-H is seeking Judges to conduct interviews with 4-H youth exhibiting at the 2025 Big Sky Country State Fair. Judges will evaluate the 4-H members’ interview skills as well as their knowledge of their project. This is a great chance for the youth to share their knowledge, practice interviewing, reflect on their experiences, and present themselves and their accomplishments to a caring adult. We would like the judges to have some subject knowledge of the projects that they will be judging. We will have a short judge’s orientation before each shift to go over the judging rubrics and what to look for when conducting the interviews.
We are in need of interview judges on for livestock/small animal and horse projects on Thursday, July 10th and Friday, July 11th. Additionally, we are looking for judges for 4-H Indoor exhibits on Sunday, July 13th. Judges will review and score project exhibits and evaluate their interview skills during this time.
If interested, please fill out the Google Form:
Gallatin County 4-H thanks you for donating your time to make an impact on the youth members in our 4-H program. To show our appreciation, we will provide you with an admission ticket to the fair that can be used on any day from July 16th through July 20th.

Ora Et Labora 4-H Club
Meetings take place the second Friday of each month at 6pm at Divine Mercy Academy school in Belgrade.
Hello everyone!
We have decided to cancel our May meeting...apologies for any inconvenience this may cause! DMA is having a camping trip for the 8th graders and up, and this will limit our attendance of the meeting. As May is a really busy time, we could not find an appropriate date to reschedule to. So we have decided to just move the meeting to our next meeting time, Friday June 13th.
On Friday June 13th, we will wrap up our year, offer any help for last minute record book entries and **SIGN RECORD BOOKS** as they will be due on the 25th.
Stay tuned in the next little bit for information on ordering some merchandise for our club. We will have all pertinent info shortly and sent out to everyone! :)

Shining Mountaineers Club
Meetings will take place on the second Monday of each month from 6:00-8:00pm at the 161 W. Madison Ave, Belgrade.
Thank you to the 14 out of 68 kids from our club that showed up for our May meeting. We had an amazing presentation from our Farmer's Union Representative. She had a ton of information about who they are as a company and their involvement throughout communities. Farmer's Union has some great camp opportunities this year. Visit their website for more information on that. The club did earn the extra $50 from them for the thank you note that was announced on the Radio from Ksky country 106.9 FM.
The MOR trip was educational and fun for the core group that showed up. THe new TRex, Sue is pretty cool to see. The museum is in transition and didn't have a lot on display for this trip. Maybe next year we can do it again and it'll be different and a bit more exciting.
The bowling trip was canceled due to MSU rec center being closed. THey said to try again in the fall.
Our fair booth committee met and is planning for an awesome display for fair.
Next meeting is June 9th from 6-8pm. BRING YOUR RECORD BOOKS! They will need to start being signed of for fair and end of year review.
If you'd like to join Shining Mountaineers, please reach out to Lindsey Klebenow through email at shiningmountaineers@gmail.com or

CLOVERBUDS (AGES 5-7)
**This Project is FULL and is no longer taking new enrollments.
The Cloverbud program is designed for youth ages 5-7 (age as of Oct. 1) and strives to develop age-appropriate skills and abilities by giving these young members the opportunity to explore various topics and activities in 4-H before becoming a regular youth member.
So fun to spend this year with all of you and all of your wonderful kiddos! I loved seeing them learn, grow and most of all learn what 4-H is all about!!
In May we had a group potluck and we worked on our fair booth decor.
*Fair is such a fun way to showcase the fun things the kiddos have done in Cloverbuds this year and get a green 4-H ribbon!!
*I would love to see lots of fun projects displayed at the fair.
Just a couple quick reminders:
*Projects can be anything that falls under ANY possible 4-H project (examples include: cooking, baking, sewing, crafts, legos, poster/drawing/hand made book about an animal, plants, photograph, cloverbud record book, wood working, ect ect. It can be something they did at one of our meetings, school, camp, church ect).
*Please see the attached picture from last year to see what our display will look like and maybe spark some ideas :)
*You should have received an email from the Extension Office about how to register, a lot of that info is not applicable for Cloverbuds and can therefore be overwhelming SO Please reach out to me or the Extension Office if you have any questions about registering!!
*Projects will come to the fair on Sunday, July 13th.
*A project interview is optional, please use the sign up genius in the fair registration email if your kiddo wants to do that.
If you have questions please email Erin Neil at ehagmeier@gmail.com or 406-431-7205.

HORSELESS HORSE
Hitch up your wagons for Fair Time!! It's been a fabulous year with all of the Horseless Horse members, but the fun isn't over yet! Here are a few reminders for upcoming summer events:
*Fair registration is now open! You can find the classes for Horseless Horse under the Indoor Project section of the Fair book. EXCITING prizes will be awarded for our Grand Champion and Reserve Champion (ages judged together but will accounted for during scoring).
*Horseless Horse Project interviews will be during Indoor Interviews on the afternoon of Sunday, July 13th. Be sure to sign up for a time slot after you register for fair.
*During Fair week, be sure to volunteer for a spot assisting the indoor 4-H project displays. It's an awesome opportunity to share with Fair visitors about the things you've done in 4-H this year!
*Camp registration opens the beginning of June. Camp is Aug 2-5!
* August - Be on the lookout for info to volunteer during the Bozeman Stampede. They donate a large portion of money back to Gallatin 4-H based on what projects volunteer. Help us by signing up and making $$ for our project to continue doing Horse activities!
Let me know if you need any help entering or preparing for fair! Thanks for a wonderful year!

KNITTING/CROCHET
**This Project is FULL and is no longer taking new enrollments.
We will have our final get-together at The Springs on Saturday, June 7th from 10am - 12pm. Come with suggestions for our summer family potluck.
4-H youth member, Bridger Noonan, has been leading a 'crochet club' at the Three Forks Seniors Center once a week since last fall. He teaches a few ladies and others just come to crochet. He loves being with the seniors and usually eats lunch there. He is planning to break for the summer but hopes to start it up again this winter.

LEATHERCRAFT
I have scheduled two days in June that I am going to be at the Extension Office conference room. These two days are open and not structured, so come whenever you can and stay as long as you can or want. There will be NO specific item I will be covering. This is a time that you bring your projects, and I will help you work on them.
- Open Workshop Dates: Thursday and Friday, June 19 & 20 from 10am-3pm. (come and go as you please)
- Where: Gallatin County Extension Office Conference Room
- What to Bring: Projects you would like to finish or work on
Again, this is a time for you to get hands on help finish up any projects. I will bring the project items I bring to class such as tool sets, marble, mallets, edgers, finishing supplies, scrap leather, etc. I will not have any additional projects for you to work on. I will have blank coasters, narrow napkin rings, and bookmarks available for sale if you would like to buy them from me.
If you are going to make one or both workshops, please let me know so I can keep watch for you. If you can’t make it or need additional help I am also in the Bozeman area until June 26th and I will also be in the Bozeman area July 8th until fair. You can reach out to me, and we can set up a time to meet at my house any time I am in Bozeman as well. Please review the last three emails as they have lots of important information regarding the next two months for the Leather Craft project.
Fair Entries are open. Fair is not required for this project, but it is a nice event to participate in at the end of our year together. Do not feel obligated to participate in fair though we would like as many of people as possible to participate.
There are a few things that you need to know if you are going to exhibit regardless of level in the project. You must complete a My 4H Year record book, non-livestock record book (for leather craft), and 7 activities (project specific). We have gone through this process at a couple of times. If you have questions, please reach out to me SOON!
Record books and activities need to be turned into the extension office by June 25th by 5 pm. The final thing that all who exhibit must do is go through an interview. The signup genius for these will come out after fair entries are closed. This interview is not hard or scary, the judge will just ask you things about your project, what you made, what you learned and then you will tell them about your entries as well. I PROMISE THE JUDGES ARE VERY, VERY NICE!!
Items specific details by level:
Level 1 students:
- 1 – educational display (Required)
- 1 – coaster or bookmark (Required)
- Up to 4 – other items of you choosing
Level 2 students:
- 1 – educational display (Required)
- 1 – carved or stamped items (Required)
- Up to 4 – other items of you choosing
Everyone is REQUIRED to have an educational display regardless of level. This is your chance to show everyone what you learned this year during the project. It can be as simple as telling us about some of the sources of different leather. Or it be the places you find leather or the items that you buy that made of leather. You could go into the steps of carving, the different tools, different tanning techniques, steps for keeping a swivel knife sharp, casing leather (what is it?) (why do we do it?) and (tips and tricks). These are just a few examples that you could do but this is not in any way a complete list. If you are struggling with ideas for these education displays, please call me!!!!
ENTER EVERYTHING YOU MIGHT GET DONE!!!! If you don’t get it done that is fine, they can just scratch the item on the day of interviews. They cannot enter an item that day.
- EXAMPLE 1: You enter a bookmark for you required entry, your education display and this is all. Over July 4th you stamp a nice belt and say hay I want to enter this in fair. THAT CAN NOT BE TAKEN TO FAIR BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T ENTER IT BEFORE THE DEADLINE
- EXAMPLE 2: You enter a bookmark for you required entry, your educational display, a belt, a knife sheath, a wallet, and a leather tray. You didn’t finish or don’t like the leather tray and you have all of the other items. THE LEATHER TRAY ENTRY CAN EASILY BE SCRATCHED.
- EXAMPLE 3: You enter a bookmark for you required entry, your educational display, a belt, a knife sheath, a wallet, and a leather tray. Over the 4th you make a barrette, and you don’t like your belt as much as you like the barrette. You can switch the barrette for the belt on the day you just can’t make a new entry.
Enter EVERYTHING you think you might get done by fair.
If you enter more than the three items, you MUST sign up for 2 interview slots.
This is all I can think of at this point. Please if you have any questions at any point, please reach out to me.
Any questions or concerns please contact me at marble@wyoming.com or 406-579-0431
